The Big Bin® Series features a high-strength grain bin roof system with a clear span design engineered for commercial grain storage applications. Built to perform in demanding environments, this roof system is designed to withstand high winds, heavy snow loads, temperature-cable systems, and high-capacity grain-handling equipment.

A 30° roof pitch allows for efficient grain filling and optimal material flow, while the oversized peak deck is designed to support modern catwalk systems and high-capacity loading equipment.

Continuous 11” or 15” deep I-beam rafters extend from the eave to the peak, forming a durable structural framework for long-term performance. Depending on the model, the roof system supports uniform peak loads ranging from 50,000 to 70,000 lbs., along with ground snow load ratings of up to 40 lbs. per square foot.

Durable Grain Bin Wall Construction for Long-Term Performance

Behlen’s grain bin wall construction features flat-sided (trapezoidal) corrugation engineered to create a secure, bolt-to-wall panel connection. This flat surface design improves structural strength while delivering a reliable, weather-tight seal at every connection point in commercial grain storage systems.

Each connection uses high-strength Grade 8.2 bolts with a recessed head pocket that helps hold the washer in place while directing moisture away from the seal. This added protection helps prevent moisture intrusion and protects stored grain.

For enhanced durability, Behlen bin bolts are coated with JS1000™ extreme-life plating, providing superior corrosion resistance and long-term performance in demanding agricultural environments.

Eave Tension Ring for Grain Bin Structural Stability

Behlen grain bins feature a full-circle eave tension ring designed to enhance structural stability in commercial grain storage systems. This system stabilizes both the roof and sidewalls under a wide range of loading conditions. Fabricated from heavy-gauge materials with welded end plates, the eave ring delivers exceptional strength and long-term durability.

Engineered to handle non-uniform loads, the system provides reliable support against snowdrifts, side draw systems, high winds, and seismic forces, ensuring consistent performance in demanding agricultural environments.

For added strength, the eave tension ring is double-braced between rafters to support both tension and compression forces. The eave ring and rafters also connect directly to the bin stiffeners, creating a unified structural framework for maximum integrity.

Grain Bin Stiffeners with Exceptional Load-Carrying Capacity

Behlen grain bins are equipped with hat-shaped stiffeners engineered to deliver superior resistance to heavy grain loads. Each stiffener is formed from a single piece of steel, up to 5/16” thick, providing outstanding strength without the need for laminated materials.

This solid steel construction enhances durability and ensures consistent performance under demanding storage conditions. Each stiffener is connected with a load-bearing plate that transfers weight efficiently into the concrete foundation, reinforcing the overall structural integrity of the bin.

With three heavy-duty stiffeners per wall sheet, Behlen bins are designed for operational efficiency, allowing for clean-out with a single-pass sweeping system.

STANDARD CRAWL DOOR

Behlen Standard Crawl Doors are designed to provide convenient, secure access to grain bin interiors while maintaining reliable grain containment and weather protection. Positioned in the second ring for easy entry, the 27” square crawl door features an outer locking door for added security and resistance against the elements, along with an inner heavy-duty steel door engineered to securely contain stored grain in agricultural and commercial grain storage systems.

OPTIONAL WALK THROUGH DOOR

The optional Behlen Walk-Through Door provides convenient, easy access to grain bin interiors, improving usability and efficiency. Designed with both inner and outer doors, this two-ring walk-through entry features an opening over 2’ wide and more than 5’ high, allowing for comfortable entry into agricultural and commercial grain storage systems while maintaining dependable security and grain containment.

Optional Drive-Through Grain Bin Door for Equipment Access

Behlen offers an optional drive-through grain bin door designed to provide convenient access to equipment in commercial grain storage systems. Built with a heavy-duty structural frame, this door system includes both inner and outer doors for enhanced durability and protection.

The hinged door design allows for smooth, reliable operation, making it ideal for loading, unloading, and maintenance activities that require full equipment entry into the grain bin.

GOOSENECK ROOF VENT

Commercial grain bins feature a 1.56 sq. ft. opening and are designed for fast, efficient assembly when used with pre-punched openings. Built for durability and reliable airflow, these roof vents are ideal for agricultural and industrial ventilation applications.

PRE-PUNCHED ROOF VENT OPENING

These roof vents feature a raised lip for enhanced weather protection and improved water resistance. Engineered for quick installation and long-lasting performance, these roof vent openings provide reliable ventilation support for agricultural and industrial roofing systems.

LOW PROFILE ROOF VENT

These vents are designed to sit close to the roof panel, helping reduce the potential for wind damage in demanding environments. Ideal for port facilities and other high-wind locations, these durable roof vents deliver reliable airflow and ventilation. Available with 3.13 sq. ft. openings, they help reduce the number of vents needed while maintaining efficient ventilation for agricultural and industrial grain storage systems.

STIFFENER EXTENSIONS

Designed to transfer loads from the base of stiffener columns to the bottom of customer-installed aeration tunnels, helping provide additional structural support and stability. Available in heights of 12¼”, 11¾”, and 7¾”, these extensions are engineered for durability and dependable performance in grain bin and aeration system applications.

SAFETY RAIL AND ROOF STAIRS

They are engineered to improve safety and accessibility for grain bin roof systems. The optional peak safety rail encloses the flat peak area to provide added worker protection, while the hot-dipped galvanized roof stairs come in pre-assembled sections for quicker installation. Easily attached mounting brackets and handrails deliver durable, reliable access for agricultural and commercial grain storage applications.
